If Women Ruled the World

From Our Writers:
In case anyone has been out of the country, perhaps on the far side of the moon, America has a woman running for president.  Accompanying this amazing event are absurd statements like: "If women ruled the world, there would be no wars." or "Women would never send their sons and daughters off to war." There is also the ever-popular: "Women are kind, loving, and nurturing and would NEVER start a fight with anyone like the men do." Speaking as a woman, I can only say emphatically and without hesitation--THAT'S RUBBISH!

We have frequently heard the line, "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned."  The truth is that hell hath no fury like any woman ticked off--about anything.  Men know this and so do women.  When it comes to holding grudges, men don’t hold a candle to women.  If Hillary Clinton didn’t need Bill alive to help her during her campaign, Bill would probably have suffered a tragic accident by now and no woman on a jury would convict her.

There are examples in the animal kingdom of female domination.  It isn’t pretty.

In families of black-and-white ruffed lemurs the female is dominant.  While she may be the boss, she is a lousy mother.  Sixty-three percent of her offspring never live past three months because of falls from trees.  It seems that "mom" parks the infant on a tree limb while she trots off to get lunch and it falls to its death.  Apparently, these females don’t learn from their mistakes.

The insect world is particularly rife with female domination.  Ever hear of a Black WidowER spider?  A slow male Black Widow spider is a dead male Black Widow spider.  Ants and bees have many things in common but the most interesting is that most of them of are female.  All but the queens are sterile and the workers will assassinate the queen if she doesn’t live up to their expectations.  The workers will simply make a new queen.  Mating bees have only one survivor.  The male is killed in the loving mating process. Any males left over that didn’t get a chance to mate are summarily slaughtered by the sterile females.  The worker bees can make more males too.  While feminists may like this arrangement, in the world of humans this isn’t a viable solution.

Avid followers of the life and times of a family of meerkats called the "Whiskers" on Animal Planet’s "Meerkat Manor," have been treated to dominate females raiding the burrows of neighboring gangs of meerkats and watching them rip helpless newborn pups to pieces.  Subordinate females within the gang that sneak out to meet a rogue male and find themselves with pup, are often driven out to live alone.  For a meerkat, living alone is usually a death sentence.  If the expectant subordinate female refuse to leave, the dominant female will kill her.  And interestingly, that female is usually one of the dominant female’s daughters.  No female is allowed to have pups but the dominate female.  Only rarely are exceptions made when the dominate female has no pups of her own.

Have there been famous women world leaders?  A few, but not many. Several women presidents stepped into the job when their president husbands died.  A few share power with a prime minister and are more of a figurehead.  There have been female presidents of countries that no longer exist or the country is one rarely heard of in America.  They are not countries that play an important role on the world stage.

As for bringing peace to their countries, Ireland has had consecutive female presidents.  Mary Robinson was elected in 1990 and was followed by Mary McAleese.  It wasn’t a woman president that slowed down the open warfare in Ireland; it was reasonable, intelligent people realizing that all they were doing was killing each other’s children and gaining nothing.

Perhaps one of the most famous female leaders was Margaret Thatcher, the first woman elected as a head of state in Europe.  She became known fondly as the "Iron Lady."  When some Argentine military invaded the British commonwealth called the Falkland Islands, Thatcher sent the British navy to deal with it.  After the Falklands were securely under British control once again, the British people loved her.  She didn’t "negotiate" or send diplomats: she dealt with the situation, quickly, decisively, and ruthlessly.

Thatcher worked closely with Ronald Reagan to help bring down the Soviet Union and she remained Reagan's dear friend until the day he died.

Several members of the Irish Republican Army (IRA) and Irish National Liberation Army decided to go on a hunger strike in prison, demanding that their status be changed to "political prisoner" instead of what they were--terrorists.  They starved to death.  Thatcher was unmoved.  She stated quite simply that the men were criminals and that her decision was not political.

Is there anyone who thinks Hillary Clinton would be strong in the face of daily criticism and condemnation from most of the free world?  Hillary Clinton is no Margaret Thatcher.  As a Clinton and a Democrat, or a "Progressive," as she likes to be called, she lives and dies by the polls.  As her husband before her, her "legacy" would be all that mattered to her.  Hillary is not strong enough to do what is right, but she will do only what she perceives is popular, and what will keep her in the favor with the American public.

Most Americans have no problem with a woman president.  Great leaders come in all shapes and sizes.  It is almost amusing to hear Hillary claim that she doesn’t want to be treated any differently because she is a woman but then she whines about the men "piling on" and "picking on her" when they dare stand up to her.  She can put the other candidates through a meat grinder but no one dares put a glove on her--because she is a woman.

For the most part, Hillary is running on her record as "co-president" with her husband, Bill.  However, that record is locked away in the Clinton Library and the eight-hundred pound gorilla in the room is the fact that Bill ordered those records sealed until 2012.  When Tim Russert asked Hillary why she doesn’t have him make the records available to the American people, Russert was attacked as unprofessional and belligerent.  Hillary tells us her record is sterling, but we must take her word for it because the "proof" is sealed away for reasons unknown.  Russert was being "unprofessional" for daring to ask.  One Hillary supporter said Russert should be hanged!  How dare someone question Hillary’s credentials.

The fact is that both Clintons are as dishonest as the day is long.  Most reasonable people know this. Both are ruthless with their personal enemies, real and perceived.  It is the enemies of America that Hillary is not ready to cope with.  Attacking Islamofacists will not wait patiently while Hillary debates the pros and cons of diplomacy.  By the time she had polls taken and interpreted, decided how her decision would affect her popularity and legacy, whined to the enemy not to pick on her because she is a woman, it would be too late.

Compared to the great Margaret Thatcher, Hillary is a joke. When America produces a woman who leads because she is a great leader, she will be elected.  The White House does not belong to the Clintons.  Hillary has no personal right to be elected as the leader of the free world.  No woman has the right to be president simply because she is a woman.  She must be a leader.  Thatcher was a leader.  Hillary is not.
