Hardly a week passes that the Islamic leaders of Iran, using their puppet mouthpiece, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, don’t threaten America’s friend and ally, Israel, with total annihilation. Anyone with more than one active brain cell knows that Iran is not only the greatest and most prolific exporter of terrorism in the world, but may well be only a year away from possessing nuclear weapons. Iran is sending bombs into Iraq to be used to kill not only American troops, but innocent Iraqi people.
President Bush was not engaging in the "politics of fear" but the politics of honesty. Appeasement has never been successful and never will be. It is no wonder that Barack Obama and his party faithful became hysterical over pointing out the fact that Obama is woefully unprepared to deal with foreign policy.
Has Obama forgotten that the best diplomatic minds the world has to offer have been talking to Iran for over five years and finally threw up their hands in frustration because in all those years not one inch was gained? Speaking to the Iranian leaders was impossible and pointless. All it did was give Iran more time to be about its business of obtaining the very weapon the free world does not want it to have.
An outraged Obama repeated that he has never said he would have meetings with terrorist groups or leaders. When speaking of Iran, it is impossible to differentiate between a terrorist government and a terrorist organization like Hamas.
Recently, Republican candidate John McCain reminded Americans that the Islamic terrorist group Hamas had endorsed Barack Obama. An indignant Obama once again hit the outrage button by implying that McCain was saying that he, Obama, had actively sought such an endorsement. Of course, McCain said no such thing but Obama’s over-reaction to the statement was curious.
In today’s political America, no one can assume that the liberal media are going to report anything that could cause untoward headaches and heartache for their darling, Barack Obama. With only a little research, the name Robert Malley can be found as one of Obama’s main advisors on the Middle East. Perhaps Obama would not meet face to face with leaders of Hamas, but it seems that his surrogate has met with Hamas many times.
Robert Malley’s feelings about Israel and his support of groups like Hamas is not new or unknown. He has been quite vocal about it for many years and is the author of books and many articles condemning Israel. These feelings are deep rooted. Robert’s father, Simon, was a good friend of Yasser Arafat’s and caused such unrest in France that he was finally deported. When confronted by the London Times about his long-standing association with Hamas, Malley openly admitted to it. Then, quietly, he left the Obama campaign. It is quite impossible to believe that Barack Obama did not know about his trusted advisor's feelings about Israel.
But, there is more.
Obama has also had many dinners with Rashid Khalidi, a professor of Arab studies at Columbia University who once worked as a spokesman for Arafat and the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO), also a known terrorist organization. Obama, when confronted, simply stated that he had many conversations with Khalidi because he points out, "consistent reminders to me of my own blind spots and my own biases… It’s for that reason that I’m hoping that, for many years to come, we continue that conversation--a conversation that is necessary not just around Mona and Rashid’s dinner table," but around "this entire world." What conversation is that? Khalidi as been consistent about only one thing--that Israel is akin to a Jewish apartheid that needs to disappear.
Obama rarely speaks of his association with the likes of Khalidi for obvious reasons. He now claims that Malley was just a fringe advisor who he rarely saw and barely knew. This is the same Obama that sent some other "fringe member" of his campaign to assure the Canadians that his condemnation of NAFTA was all bravado for the masses. He didn’t really mean it. When caught, Obama once again, claimed ignorance and tossed the campaign worker to the wolves. Obama also sat for twenty years in the church of Reverend Wright and apparently never heard a word he said.
Can Obama really be that oblivious to what is going on around him? Did he not know about the deep-rooted opinions of a man who was advising him on Middle Eastern matters? Is Malley the man who advised Obama to meet, president to president, with a man who has sworn to destroy Israel and is working hard to get nukes to carry out that dream?
Does Obama hold himself in such high regard that he honestly feels he will be able to make the Iranian leaders see the error of their ways, destroy their nuclear weapons program, and give Israel a group hug?
On the home front, Barack Obama is bad enough with his tax, tax, and tax-some-more policies, but his neophyte and downright gullible views of foreign affairs will get Americans killed. The Democratic reaction to President Bush’s remarks, which were general at best, is a clear indication that Obama’s total lack of knowledge of how to deal with our enemies could be an election disaster for the leftists who are backing him and they know it.
Talks with North Korea are being compared to the talks Obama plans to have with several world dictators who have vowed to destroy America. This is folly at best. There were never one-on-one talks with North Korea but five- and six-country talks that consisted of countries such as China who have at least some control over the madman leading that country. President Bush has never suggested that he sit down and have a chat with Kim Jong-il.
Americans need to look closely at what party has members meeting with dictators and terrorists. Nancy Pelosi provided a splendid photo-op for Bashar al-Assad who, with the assistance of Iran, is now exporting terrorism to Lebanon and starting another war there using another Islamic terrorist group, Hezzbollah.
Former President Jimmy Carter met with Hamas, giving them more credibility then it ever could have hoped for. Obama was noticeably slow in condemning Carter for this meeting, stating that Carter was a private citizen who could meet with whomever he wished. But Carter is not just any old American citizen. He was president of the United States. Hamas was outwardly gleeful about the meeting, using it to boost their status. The meeting was totally irresponsible and unbecoming of a former president.
Meetings such as these can be called anything one wishes to call them, but appeasement does come to mind. It certainly came to the minds of many Democrats as they pushed each other out of the way to be the first to decry President Bush’s statement, which, never mentioned Barack Obama, or Nancy Pelosi, or John Kerry, or Jimmy Carter, or any other American.
Neville Chamberlain was convinced that he had created "peace in our time." He was a fool. No one can appease someone whose goal is world domination. The only thing that is produced is uproarious laughter as the dictator, be he a Nazi or an Islamic, watches the fool he has just convinced that he wants only peace, leave, sure that he will be heralded as a great leader who has brought peace to the world with a hug and a handshake.
Grow up, Obama. Your young supporters will be looking to you to protect them when the shooting starts. It’s to bad that you won’t have a clue about what to do other than surrender.
