Regarding the appeal of Sarah Palin to the American public, one senior McCain spokesman has explained: “She is the embodiment of the American dream, the small-town girl who rises to the very top, doesn't sacrifice her family or her values along the way, takes on the big guys and wins. The thing about Palin is that every aspect of her story touches someone
.”
Perhaps an analogy to the life of Erin Brockovich, about whom a movie was made, can be offered. The story of Ms. Brockovich’s success was and has always been popular with all women, particularly the feminists. Ms. Brockovich was an ordinary middle-class mom with no college degree and, like Palin, also had a short stint in beauty pageant winning. She just wanted to have a good job and do what was right in supporting and helping her family. Brockovich was propelled into the legal world through an entry-level position as a legal clerk. She had no background in jurisprudence, and little exposure to business operations or the corporate world. Through her common sense, street-smarts, sheer determination, a basic instinct to help the people no matter the odds, as well as a penchant for fair play and getting at and exposing the truth she achieved more than all the highly-educated, ladder climbing, self-promoting corporate lawyers could. She took on the big guys and won! Brockovich represents to women what they can do, no matter the obstacles and put-downs they have had to endure.
So why, when Sarah Palin is clearly such a similar achiever, do liberal women and left-wingers have such a prejudice against her? It is not that they really think she is not qualified; certainly we have had other VP candidates and even elected vice presidents with slim qualifications (Theodore Roosevelt being a prime example). The answer is simply: jealousy.
Feminists and their flocks of angry, aggressive, cut-throat, whining followers are just jealous that it isn’t one of their "gals" up there. Sarah hasn’t advocated for them or accepted their playbook of rules. She just worked hard without expecting any special privileges, or recognition by any entity or support group that demanded her rights.
And the worst part for these angry, hate-filled women is that Palin is a conservative, religious, Republican to boot who enjoys and skillfully handles her role as a loving wife, mother, and government executive all while possessing an ability to compete in a man’s world without becoming masculine. She doesn’t hate men, or support killing defenseless babies. She has not been part of demonstrations against America or fought in the streets against inequalities. Oh, the horrors of Sarah and her success!
How can this woman possibly be acceptable to the self-promoting feminists? It does not matter to them that she has proven her capabilities for executive administration and governing while addressing the needs of her constituency with tact, diplomacy, and a keen awareness of the difference between right and wrong. It would only be considered relevant to them if she was one of their pit bulls. Yet, Palin is proving that she doesn’t have to fight like a dirty dog to be the pack leader.
The poor, envious feminists throughout America are all acting out as though they are uniformly suffering from PMS!
Gov. Palin’s VP nomination has incited them to such resentful behavior that it is an embarrassment to other women of restraint and decorum. And, in doing so, these nay-sayers are demonstrating just exactly the kind of female traits that men have always been concerned about when considering women for any position of power.
These left-wing, malicious women are not at all above being catty, sneaky, caustic, and--most of all entirely emotional. Not admirable qualities for the leadership roles they have tried to attain. That's why most of them have not achieved as Sarah has. With all their education, degrees, connections, clout--and the media behind them--they are still behaving like petty little princesses in the school playground picking on the one who is different and who they have deemed not worthy to be in their "clique."
When Palin was announced as a contender in this election it spurred the feminists to expose themselves to be exactly like the "bitc**s" who the corporate world has not wanted to promote to managerial or administrative positions. Their petty, hostile attacks on Sarah (and her family) show to the world the worst and most irritating side of the female gender. By their actions they are embodying what men most dislike and fear about having women in the workplace. The barrage of assaults on her by her “sisters” has made more men question the merit of the entire feminist movement, than men have been indoctrinated not to question for decades .
Yet, Sarah, in her sensible, feisty manner has overcome their type of teenage, hormone-raging, tantrum-throwing behavior. She is competitive without being mean-spirited, adventurous, down-to-earth, disciplined, strong, and ladylike. She has risen above the immature temptation to call names and label others with insulting, defaming terms. Palin doesn’t try to make herself look good by trying to smear others with fraudulent claims about their past and she doesn’t relish hurting someone’s feelings. She simply calls things as they are, digs, in and gets the right job done. In doing so, she has trumped the hate-filled feminists at their game and their egos just can't handle the fact that she could, if she wanted to, look down her nose at those she has far surpassed.
Gov. Palin reminds us of our favorite, understanding yet demanding teacher. The one who would not tolerate silly excuses and misbehavior in the classroom but who recognized our faults and lovingly reprimanded and encouraged us to do better and become better people. She has given us inspiration and an example of the best in women by maintaining her dignity, poise, sense of fair-play, and strong moral values in the face of overwhelming odds and criticisms from the good old boys (and girls) network.
Whether or not the November election takes Gov. Palin to even greater acclaim and responsibilities in Washington, she has made a huge mark on women and American society. This frontier woman, with the fighting spirit of Annie Oakley and the strength and faith of Joan of Arc didn’t worry about breaking the glass ceiling--she just went to work. In Palin one can see the industriousness of Margaret Thatcher and the foresight possessed by Golda Meir combined with the same proclivity for doing good and righting wrongs. With humility and a keen sense of ethical conduct, Gov. Palin exudes the type of leadership characteristics that have been admired for centuries.
And if Sarah Palin can bag a bull moose, it's certain that she won't cringe at the sight of a couple of green-eyed doubting donkeys.
