From Our Writers:
The recent Washington spat between Speaker Nancy Pelosi and the Central Intelligence Agency opens the door to speculation on just who is running our country.
In her article, "It's No Secret: The CIA Plays Politics," Danielle Pletka writes, "Since the creation of the CIA in 1947, there have been complaints from the outside about analysts playing politics and complaints from within about political pressure to skew intelligence."
The current debate over who knew what about enhanced interrogation methods and when did they know it is just the tip of the political iceberg. More could be going on below the surface that a spellbound media will never see.
Pletka continues, "...the CIA itself is a political organization...it is the agency that has regularly and aggressively used its intelligence gathering and analysis to bolster...political opinions about hot-button issues..."
Given the politics of the CIA and the politics of the Democrat Party, can we imagine a scenario where intelligence about hot-button issues trumps elections and the President of the United States is held hostage by what the CIA knows about him?
The simmering controversy about the Obama birth certificate is just such a scenario. Little by little, the ''Birthers'' are making the Obama birth certificate a hot-button issue.
The fact that Mr. Obama has only posted online a certificate of live birth issued by the state of Hawaii, and not a long form birth certificate, suggests that he has something to hide about where he was born. It is not true, as some allege, that the Secretary of State of Hawaii has certified that Mr. Obama is a natural born citizen.
Where there is something in politics to hide, there also is the CIA to uncover it. Intelligence about Mr. Obama's secret birth documents can't be that hard for the CIA to get. It's not like they have to send an agent to North Korea.
Many believe the CIA may have already seen the documents that prove Mr. Obama is not a natural born citizen. If this is true, then it makes Mr. Obama a popular usurper to the office of president, and probably opens the door to his deportation as an illegal alien or to blackmail.
Intelligence about Mr. Obama's past may put some of the directors of the CIA in a very advantageous political position. Some in the CIA, knowing what they may know, could easily blackmail the president.
Mr. Obama must release all records pertaining to where he was born and where he went to school. This release will remove any possible threat or suspicion of presidential blackmail. Voters ought to know the truth about the man they elect so that they pull the strings of policy, not someone behind the scenes.
As long as documents about Mr. Obama's birth are secret, some in the agency could say to him, "Lay off us, and we will lay off you." As for the Speaker of the House, "Let her hang in the wind to dry. Paneta will take care of that."
