         I call it the California Dope'em and Tax'em Initiative because that is exactly what it does.  First, it allows irresponsible people to be doped.  Second, it robs their wallets once they are in that hazy state.  The state then takes that money and spends it on new spending bills rather than to use it responsibly.  To borrow from (and revise) Karl Marx: "The state is indeed the opiate of the people."

         Here is a little satire about the Alvin Green incident.  He's the one who won the Democrat primary in South Carolina to run against GOP Senator Jim DeMint.  Senate Majority Whip Clyburn howled like a Carolina hurricane and accused Green of being a Republican plant.  Maybe he was.  I thought that ChronWatch could stand another dose of bluegrass humor.
