Just think about it for a minute: this latest ruling by the Supreme Court granting the constitutional rights of American citizens to captured foreign terrorists.
As a thought experiment, imagine the United States at war with France: two civilized countries observing the rules of warfare as defined in treaties signed by both parties. Under these rules, French soldiers captured on the battlefield become prisoners of war. Protected by treaty from arbitrary execution, torture, etc., they may nevertheless be held without trial for the duration of the war, even if it takes 25 years.
Now imagine a few Frenchman--not members of the French military, nor under orders from any agency of the French government--taking it upon themselves to sneak across America’s undefended border and blow up a school full of children. These murderers and terrorists, according to the Supreme Court, immediately acquire the same constitutional rights as the law-abiding American citizens they just killed. They get habeas corpus rights, the right to a trial in a civilian criminal court, expert defense lawyers paid for by the American taxpayer…
Meanwhile, the uniformed French POWs, who played by the rules and didn’t murder anybody, sit and sit and sit some more in prison camp.
By their acts of mass murder, following the insane thinking of five Supreme Court justices, the terrorists become instantly upgraded to full legal equality with U.S. citizens.
Those whom God would destroy, He first makes mad.
And our leaders are obviously as mad as hatters.
Just a little something to think about.
